A Closet Transformed

This closet project was a great opportunity for the client to get rid of things she hasn't worn including shoes, clothing and bags! We started with three bags- one for items to give to charity, one intended for re-sale shops and the other for the trash.  The game plan was if she hadn't worn it in over a year out it went!  Once we sorted through what was staying I made sure we had enough bins for storage and a plan as to how the closet would flow. Although not everyone has this much closet space it is always best to organize your clothing by season, and remember to keep shoes, accessories and bags together.  If your space doesn't allow you to store all of your clothing in one closet just use bins labeled summer or winter to keep the clutter to a minimum!  Take a look at the before and after photos below to see how this closet transformed into a perfectly organized space.

Before!

AFTER!
Shoes are stores according to season and the bins we used are great for all heel heights and flats.  Boots are stored on the shelving, I suggest laying down contact paper so that anything on the bottom of the boots doesn't fall onto the floor.  This is easy to clean and a more sanitary solution!

I created an accessory corner in this area of the closet by using inexpensive hooks that have adhesive on the back.  These are great because they easily peel on and off and dont ruin the walls (also recommend for hanging pictures). I placed smaller bags here and removed the belts from  the floor and placed them in a clear plastic bin! The blue container wasn't being utilized so remaining jewelry was placed inside.  I recommended hanging a small mirror in this section of the closet to add to the space.

The great thing about this closet is that everything is in now in reach.  We also tackled the bedroom's dresser and placed items such as pajamas, t-shirts and shorts in the drawers.  Although this seemed as if it was an overwhelming task for the client the end result was a well organized space and peace of mind.

My Inspirations

Very recently I decided it’s important to share my passion.  One of my main focuses in life is staying centered and being at peace internally.  I believe for me it’s proven to be more challenging than making a career choice or even maintaining a good GPA.  Life is full of ups and downs, disappointments, setbacks and so many choices.  I have been on a long road discovering what moves me, what inspires me and most importantly what’s my place in this world?  I realized very recently that my surroundings are what moves me, that beauty in color and shapes inspire me, that creating a space that is organized and flows naturally creates that inner peace and harmony in my life and I would love to share that passion with people! My goal for my blog is to share ideas, get feedback and post pictures when I can of spaces that I have transformed for myself and others in an effort to bring harmony into the home.  I am constantly searching through design magazines, looking at professional organizing websites and reading up on feng shui tactics to be inspired.  I’d love to hear from anyone who is looking for advice on a organizing project in their home, or who can give me advice!

I added some photos below of my own closet revamp.  The first photo to me isn’t a mess but an opportunity! Grab those garbage bags and start eliminating items that you haven’t worn in over a year.  Give them to goodwill, or a resale shop.   I love using shelving to store items, bins are great too.  I prefer clear bins to see what’s inside!  I always like to discard of shoe boxes as they take up space.   Investing in shoe racks with shelves, or a great hanging shoe rack for flats and sneakers will allow you to get to your shoes quickly.  An alternative to hanging your smaller items or jewelry is using a a small hook that you can place on the wall or hang from your shelves, similar to what I used in picture 3.  Happy organizing!

A true passion for a clutter free life

I have a true passion for design, decorating, cleaning and creating an organized space, which began at a very early age.  I thought what better way to share that passion than to blog about it, share ideas, get some feedback and possibly help those that may need some good organizing advice and tips!  I've always found that clutter will eventually clutter your brain!  Whether you are looking to discuss organizing your kitchen, cleaning out that closet, clearing up a workspace or shredding up all that unwanted paperwork my goal is to create an excitement over getting organized and turning it into a fun task.  Speaking from experience it will bring harmony into your home and more importantly into your spirit!
